GLUTAGENCE TAKES 2-0 STANDING; DEFEATS STAN QUEZON LADY SPARTANS
Glutagence Glow Boosters continued their rally and domination in the Women's National Basketball League after taking down the Stan Quezon Lady Spartans, 75-60 last Saturday.
Led by Raiza Palmera-Dy, the squad was able to bag the win with 22 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and two steals exhibited at the Bren Z. Guaio Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
The former Lady Maroon Karen Salapong gained the first booster for the game with Glutagence with her 3 points in yet revoked immediately with also 3 points from the Lady Spartans followed by the three-pointer Dianne Ventura. The favor for the Spartans continued to go on until halftime of the first quarter 10-3, but Booster paved their way and turned the situation around ending the first quarter at 19-17.
Brawling on clinching the second quarter, both teams took turns to attack and score and did not let the other’s team lead more points. However, trying to make up for the lost opportunity during the first quarter, the Spartans ended the half quarter of the game with a two-point lead, 36-34.
Third-quarter came but none of the team did not let the opposing squad score as the first score was scored after almost the lapse of three minutes. The heated battle goes on and with only 4-minutes left on the shot clock, Spartans stretched a six-point lead 44-41 and ended the third quarter in their favor, 52-46.
Yet with combined forces of the Glutagence, Salapong stealing the ball with fast breaks of Palmera-Dy as well as the back-to-back jump shots from Carolina Sangalang were able to get the double-digit lead of the game 68-58 with only two minutes left in the clock the Glow Boosters-squad defeated the Stan team with a whopping five-point lead, 75-60.
“…half time down kami by 5 points but naghuddle kami and ni-remind lang kami ni coach na it will start on defense talaga. Yung offense andiyan na ‘yan e pero we need start on defense talaga,” player of the game, Palmera-Dy shared.
“I hate losing talaga. So, sabi ko tutal andito naman na kami sa league, although short operation talaga for everyone, but at the end of the day sabi ko ayaw ko talaga matalo.”
