Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) president Cynthia Carrion is not giving Carlos Yulo any hint on the bounty attached to the gold quest.

“I haven’t told him yet about it and I don’t plan to,” said Carrion.

The bounty is expected to reach 50 million coming from the growing donations by Manny V. Pangilinan (P10M), Ramon S. Ang (P10M), and another 10M guaranteed by the government’s incentive act as well as Rep. Mikee Romero (P3M).

With a big amount of the Olympic bounty, Carrio averred that she wanted Yulo to focus on the games and not for the reward saying that “I want him to do everything he can [to win gold] for the country, not just for the money.”

Nevertheless, Yulo will go to the podium in vault and parallel bars weighing the load of being the reigning world champion in the floor exercise and Carrion did not want to add more pressure on that matter.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on him,” she said.

The 21-year old is set to face the likes of reigning world champion Nikita Nagornyy of Russia and his compatriot, Artur Dalaloyan. Also, the world champion of parallel bars of the United Kingdom’s Joe Fraser, meanwhile as well as runner-up Ahmet Önder of Turkey will be gunning for gold in Tokyo.

“He is so calm, confident and ready. He’s really very strong right now. When I saw him, I was really impressed,” Carrion assured.
