GAMPONG, SUMAGAYSAY TO SUIT UP FOR SARAWAK HORNBILL IN MALAYSIA LEAGUE
Madz Gampong and Jayvee Sumagaysay have signed with Sarawak Hornbill to see action for the 2022 Malaysia Volleyball League (MVL) season.
The Malaysia Volleyball Association made the development through their social media account after posting videos of Gampong and Sumagaysay announcing their upcoming stint in the MVL Championship in March at the Astro Arena.
Gampong and Sumagaysay are the two latest Filipinos set to showcase their talents in an international league along with Marck Espejo and Bryan Bagunas who are playing in Japan V.League, while Joshua Umandal’s stint with Bani Jamra in Bahrain recently ended.
The 6-foot-1 Sumagaysay is one of the prominent middle blockers of the country that nabbed the Spikers’ Turf Best Middle Blocker three times.
Meanwhile, the 5-foot-9 Gampong is a one-time Spikers’ Turf Best Opposite Spiker.
Gampong and Sumagaysay last saw action in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Champions League, where they played for the Team Dasma Monarchs.
The pair steered the squad to the championship title with a 3-1 win over Air Force.
Sumagaysay served as the team’s captain and also won Best Middle Blocker honors in the tournament.
The duo is set to join Sarawak Hornbill next month.
