FOUR STUDENT-ATHLETES SECURE GAB SGL TO PLAY FOR VISMIN CUP AS GUEST PLAYERS
Four student-athletes have been given clearance to play for the maiden professional season of the 2021 Chooks-to-Go VisMin Cup.
Jordan Sta. Ana, Rich Guinitaran, CJ Pamaran, and Darell Shane Menina have availed the special guest license (SGL) from the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) to retain their college eligibility despite playing for a pro league.
“They will not automatically qualify as a professional athlete. They will be permitted to play in a professional league as a guest player for a limited period,” said GAB Chairman Baham Mitra.
According to a report from Tiebreaker Times, AU Athletic Director Peter Cayco said that the management committee has approved their application.
Arellano Chiefs guard Sta. Ana will be seeing action with the Roxas Vanguard while Guinitaran and Pamaran who are now both in the Legarda-based squad after playing for Centro Escolar University will be suiting up for the Pagadian Explorers.
Menina, on the other hand, has secured his license to play for the league while keeping his college eligibility intact with the University of Cebu with the help of his sponsor MJAS Zenith — the company backing Visayas’ Talisay City.
The Visayas leg of the VisMin Cup has started their games last April 9 while the Mindanao leg will tip-off May 20.
