RENOWNED PBA champion Alex Cabagnot, a nine-time titleholder, has officially joined the ranks of the Korean basketball team Goyang Sono Skygunners. The team announced this through its official social media account on Monday (18 Dec 2023).
Cabagnot, at 41 years old, concluded his latest PBA season with the Terrafirma Dyip, boasting averages of 8.8 points, 6.4 assists, and 4.7 rebounds in the Governors’ Cup.
Despite being an eight-time PBA All-Star, Cabagnot did not cut the Dyip’s Season 48 roster, as the franchise chose to concentrate on nurturing its young talent.
The seasoned guard steps in to fill the shoes of fellow Filipino and former Blackwater guard Josh Torralba, who is sidelined due to a thigh injury during the ongoing Korean Basketball League season.
Cabagnot is set to make his presence felt for the remainder of Goyang’s KBL season, where the Skygunners currently hold the eighth spot in the 10-team field with an 8-12 record.
