DWIGHT RAMOS YET TO RECOVER FROM INJURY, ‘MAJOR CONCERN’ FOR GILAS PILIPINAS

Dwight Ramos’ significant role in the Gilas Pilipinas has made the team worry after seeing no signs of improvement from his injury, especially with a few days left before PH begin their campaign in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) in Serbia.

Head coach Tab Baldwin affirmed that there are no signs of improvement with only three days to go before the OQT bid.

“Dwight is a major concern,” he shared with The Chasedown sports program.

“We’re not just seeing any improvements in the groin muscle. It’s been four days now since he got the injury and the trip doesn’t help. The travel and the plane ride doesn’t help muscle problems. We have to see in the next couple of days.”

The big man sustained the said injury during the training in Pampanga and prevented him from playing in the exhibition game against China that ended in a draw.

Baldwin also shared that Ramos is not yet ready for any live activity and groin muscles as he shared that ‘they’re pretty dodgy.’

Nevertheless, he shared that he’s already expecting the worst-case scenario—not seeing Ramos in action.

“I’m guardedly pessimistic. There’s really no point in making an assessment on something that could change overnight.”
