DWIGHT RAMOS GETS LIMITED COURT TIME AS TOYAMA BOWS TO HIROSHIMA FOR THIRD STRAIGHT DEFEAT
Dwight Ramos played limited time for his first game in B.League for the new year as Toyama Grouses went down to third straight loss after an 84-79 defeat to the Hiroshima Dragonflies Saturday in the 2021-22 B.League season at F-Pico Arena Fukuyama.
The first quarter started with Ramos on the bench which was unusual since the Ateneo standout usually plays in the starting five.
The Grouses brought in Ramos for the second quarter but was able to see in action for more than three minutes only.
Ramos recorded one rebound but failed to secure any field goals, fouled and sent to the charity stripe, and missed both free throws to remain scoreless.
Nonetheless, Toyama made it difficult for Dragonflies as they tied the game at 75 with 3:28 remaining.
Hiroshima’s Nick Mayo scored six of his 16 points combined with five rebounds and two assists to earn the team’s third straight victory.
Ryo Terashima added 18 points, five boards, five dimes, and two steals, Greg Echenique delivered 13 points and eight rebounds, and Naoto Tsuji had 12 points, six assists, three steals, and two boards.
Toyama (8-17) was led by Joshua Smith, who had 19 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Julian Mavunga came off the bench for his 14 points, five boards, and five dimes, Naoki Uto got 13 points, six assists, five rebounds, and two steals, and Kevin Hareyama got 12 points and four boards in the conquest.
In other games, both Matthew Aquino and Juan Gomez de Liano were benched as their teams lost in a battle between Shinshu Brave Warriors and Chiba Jets, and Earthfriends Tokyo Z against Fukushima Firebonds, respectively.
