THE ANNUAL ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet has emerged as a platform for strengthening ties among ASEAN shooting teams through friendly competition.

On November 19, 2024, sharpshooters from ASEAN nations paired up for a unique series of events at the Marksmanship Training Facility, Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac.

The teams were formed as follows: the Philippines and Cambodia represented Team “Narra,” Myanmar and Vietnam became Team “Yakal,” Malaysia and Singapore joined forces for Team “Magkuno,” Indonesia and Laos partnered for Team “Kamagong,” and Thailand and Brunei formed Team “Lauan.”

Each team, named after a Philippine indigenous tree, competed in the “Modified Falling Plates Relay” across various categories. Team Narra excelled in the Rifle, Pistol Men’s, and Pistol Women’s categories, Team Kamagong topped the Carbine category, and Team Magkuno triumphed in the Machine Gun category.

This collaborative setup exemplified how partnership transcends borders, as sharpshooters shared tactics, celebrated wins, and exchanged valuable skills.

With the theme “Strengthening Partnership and Camaraderie towards Regional Stability,” the 32nd ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet underscored the importance of cooperation in ensuring stability across Southeast Asia.

The friendly matches concluded with an awarding ceremony, recognizing teams not only for their achievements but for embodying a strong esprit de corps.
