DEPED-LEYTE TO GIVE AID TO SCHOOL EXPLOSION VICTIMS
THE DEPARTMENT of Education in Leyte province vowed to provide assistance to students who were affected by the explosion that happened inside a classroom.
Seven students were injured when an alcohol bottle accidentally exploded inside a classroom in Capoocan Central School last week.
One of the victims stole an empty alcohol bottle from the teacher’s desk while the teacher was away. The student proceeded to refill the bottle.
“In the process of refilling of alcohol, one of their classmates suddenly lit up a lighter towards the alcohol that was being refilled, thereby accidentally igniting it resulting into a quick explosion and causing burned injuries,” the police said.
DepEd-Leyte said that it will also provide psycho-social support services to the affected students.
“We understand that this incident has caused concern and anxiety within the division. We want to assure the public that we are committed to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all our learners,” DepEd said.
