COLLEGE STUDENTS IN CATBALOGAN TO RECEIVE P1K CASH AID
AROUND 2,000 college students in Catbalogan City in Samar will get a one-time cash assistance from the local government.
Under the city’s “Ayuda Eskwela” program, qualified students will be given P1,000 to help them in their distance learning needs.
Of the 2,086 beneficiaries, 1,305 come from Samar State University, 699 from Samar College and 82 from St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan.
“Only residents enrolled in schools here and have undergone the scholarship processing will receive the cash aid due to limited funds. Rest assured that in the next rollout, more students will be covered,” Catbalogan City Mayor Dexter Uy said.
“They could use the amount to buy things they would need for their remote learning as part of our commitment to support the education of the youth,” Uy added.
The city government earlier distributed a one-time educational cash assistance to senior high school students. The program benefited 2,572 Grade 11 and 1,876 Grade 12 students.
