CHED BARES 578 NEW SCHOLARS

THE COMMISSION on Higher Education office in Central Luzon granted scholarships to 578 students for Academic Year 2021-2022.

CHEd officer-in-charge and regional director Maria Teresita Semana said that the scholarship was under the Student Financial Assistance Programs.

Students enrolled in private higher education institutions will receive P60,000 to P120,000 per academic year while those enrolled in state and local universities and colleges will receive P40,000 to P80,000.

hose who are sugar industry dependents will receive P110,000 for an undergraduate degree and P175,000 for a graduate degree.

Scholarships are available to qualified and deserving students based on merits such as academic performance, poverty level, handicap, age, and ethnicity, according to Semana.

“For AY 2021 to 2022, we have a total of 180,251 beneficiaries here in the region. For prior years, we have 140,741 beneficiaries in AY 2018 to 2019; and 161,912 students in AY 2019 to 2020,” she said.

The commission also provides additional financial assistance to poor students through the Tertiary Education Subsidy, which varies from P10,000 to P40,000.
