MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna called on the youth on Tuesday to draw inspiration from Carlos Edriel Yulo’s Paris Olympic feats in their determination and hard work to produce golden results.

The local chief executive is hopeful that there will be more Manileños who will follow the path of Yulo.

“Ito ang aming munting pagkilala sa napakahalagang kontribusyon ninyo sa larangan ng sports at sana ay marami pang kabataang Manilenyo at Pilipino ang inyong mabigyan ng inspirasyon na magtagumpay sa kanilang piling larangan,” Lacuna said.

Lacuna also thanked those who helped Yulo in his campaign at the world’s biggest sporting event.

“Dalangin namin ang marami pang medalyang ginto sa inyong mga torneo na sasalihan lalo na sa 2028 Los Angeles Olympics,” Lacuna added.

Yulo was presented with a resolution inked by the Manila City Council, which designates every August 4 as Carlos Yulo Day, a working holiday to remember the day he won his second gold medal.

Lacuna also handed Yulo a P2 million cash incentive from the city government.
