ABOUT 56.41 percent of college students and 95 percent of teachers and school staff have been vaccinated against Covid19, the Commission on Higher Education said.

As of December 9, CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III said that 247,604 out of the 292,969 teaching and non-teaching personnel in higher education institutions have been fully vaccinated.

“85.81 percent (of employees) received at least one jab,” De Vera said during the ceremonial signing of the joint memorandum circular on the resumption of collegiate athletic training.

Meanwhile, the CHED chief noted that 4,099,519 tertiary students have received their first dose of Covid19 vaccine, while 2,310,037 are fully vaccinated.

“I’d like to thank our universities for helping us rapidly increase our vaccination rate,” De Vera said.

“We have universities helping the actual crafting of the guidelines because they know best what is needed at the ground level,” he stressed. “I hope that we will continue to work together in any activity inside and outside the universities.”

The commission hopes to vaccinate at least 80 percent of college students by the end of December.
