PBBM ORDERS FULL GOV’T SUPPORT FOR 2026 NATIONAL SCIENCE AND TECH WEEK IN GENSAN
PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has directed all government agencies and state institutions to extend full support to the upcoming 2026 National Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (NSTW), scheduled for November 25 to 29 in General Santos City.
Under Memorandum Circular No. 138, signed on October 19, President Marcos mandated all national government agencies, government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs), and state universities and colleges (SUCs) to actively participate in and support the event.
The directive also strongly encourages local government units (LGUs), academic and research institutions, and the private sector to join in promoting science and technology as primary engines for national development.
This year’s NSTW carries the overarching theme, “Siyensya, Teknolohiya at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Kinabukasan,” paired with the subtheme, “Science, Technology, and Digital Innovation Driving Food Security, Sustainable Energy, and National Resilience.”
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will lead the nationwide celebration, while the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) has been tasked with driving public awareness and promotion for its programs and activities.
Funding for the agencies’ participation will be sourced from their respective available appropriations, subject to standard budgeting, accounting, and auditing regulations.
Memorandum Circular No. 138 took effect immediately upon signing.
