SOLON PUSHES FOR INCREASED CHILDCARE SUBSIDIES
BAGONG Henerasyon Partylist Rep. Bernadette Herrera is pushing for a legislative measure that seeks to increase government subsidies for childcare programs, particularly for children of solo parents.
Herrera emphasized that aside from expanding government assistance, she also aims to strengthen public-private partnerships to establish more daycare centers and improve access to quality childcare services nationwide.
The lawmaker also highlighted the need to address the mental health challenges faced by solo parents, noting that many endure emotional and psychological burdens while raising their children alone.
As part of her broader initiative, Herrera is also exploring various strategies to enhance the economic opportunities available to solo parents. These include employment and entrepreneurship programs, flexible work arrangements, and easier access to low-interest business loans.
“This is not just a legislative fight for me,” Herrera stated.
“It is a personal mission to champion the welfare of solo parents in the country,” she added.
Herrera reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that solo parents are not left behind and are provided with the support they need to lead stable, empowered lives while raising their families.
