SENATOR Raffy Tulfo filed a measure that aims to provide hospital benefits and other privileges for public school teachers and their dependents.
Under Senate Bill 1921 or the proposed Public School Teachers’ Hospital Benefits Act of 2023, teachers and their sick dependents can seek medical help in public hospitals where a fast lane will be provided for them.
The measure also provides special discounts to further reduce the burden of paying hospital bills.
Tulfo said that teachers hold one of the most vital jobs in the country and are the unsung heroes.
“There is a dire need to provide teachers with additional benefits, especially in the health sector as they are exposed to a multitude of health risks like pharyngitis, hypertension, anemia, hyperacidity, and many more,” Tulfo said in his explanatory note.
