SENATOR PUSHES MEASURE ON INSTALLATION OF NATIONAL SYMBOLS
SENATOR Mark Villar filed a measure that seeks to mandate all government agencies to install national symbols and figures to boost the awareness and patriotism of the Filipino youth.
Senate Bill 2253 or the proposed Youth Awareness to National Symbols and Figures Act aims to instill in the young generation
a sense of patriotism and love for the country by educating them about the Philippines’ rich history and heritage.
The objective of the bill will be achieved by posting of national symbols and figures in conspicuous places in all government offices.
Villar stressed the importance of patriotism as it instills love for the country, create a sense of unity and foster a positive national identity that brings a sense of belonging among fellow Filipinos.
“Awareness of Filipino youth to national symbols and figures had already diminished over time as the programs of the government had been focused on matters relating to their academic, technological and developmental advancement,” Villar said in his explanatory note.
“It is high time to remind the country of the importance of patriotism and nationalism to our Filipino youth,” he added.
