SENATOR CALLS FOR STRONGER SECURITY MEASURES AFTER GRADE 8 STUDENT FATALLY STABBED IN PARAÑAQUE SCHOOL

/ 29 March 2025

SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian has expressed deep concern and grief over the fatal stabbing of a Grade 8 student inside Moonwalk National High School in Parañaque, calling for stronger security in schools and greater parental involvement in instilling discipline.

“We must not allow violence in our schools to become the norm,” Gatchalian said, noting that several stabbing incidents have already been reported in public schools in recent months.

He acknowledged the swift action of authorities in apprehending the suspect and turning him over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development but stressed that justice must be served for the victim.

Gatchalian urged schools to reinforce their security measures to prevent similar incidents and called on parents to take a more active role in guiding their children to avoid violence.

“I extend my sympathies to the family, friends, and the entire community as we mourn this tragic loss. We must take stronger measures to ensure that our schools remain safe spaces for learning,” he added.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine its cause and ensure accountability.
