SCHOOLS GET FREE POCKET WIFI AND LAPTOPS FOR ONLINE CLASSES

/ 27 July 2020

SMART Communications and Globe Telecom HAVE distributed free pocket wifi and laptops to students and teachers for blended learning.

In preparation for online classes, Smart has provided SmartBro pocket and Home wifi devices to Binlod Elementary School in Cebu, and Smart Infocast and pocket wifi devices to Baliuag University in Bulacan, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University in La Union, Tagoloan Community College in Misamis Oriental and Ateneo de Naga in Camarines Sur.

Smart Infocast is a communication tool that allows schools to give official announcements through text messages.

For its part, Globe Telecom distributed pre-owned laptops to support schools in different parts of the country for the distance learning for School Year 2020-2021.

“Instead of disposing the pre-owned laptops when many Filipinos have no access to a computer, we decided to refurbish the units and give them a new purpose to schools. This way, we are able to help our teachers and students as well as extend the usable life of the devices,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability Officer and SVP for Corporate Communications on its official website.

Globe has delivered 10 pre-owned laptops to San Vicente National High School in Baguio City, seven units to San Pedro Elementary School in Sasmuan, Pampanga, and 32 units to the DepEd Division in Cagayan de Oro City for use of Cadayona Elementary School, Dongguan Elementary School, Iba Elementary School and Magaya Elementary School.
