A TEACHER’S group said on Wednesday that gadgets should not be totally banned in schools but there should be a strict regulation.
“Kung sakaling magkakaroon ng ban in the use of cellphones or electronic gadgets sa school, dapat hindi total ban. Dapat ito’y regulation, strict regulation at that,” Teachers’ Dignity Coalition chairperson Benjo Basas said in a television interview.
“Cellphone is a super gadget. Lahat nandito na,” he added.
Basas made the statement after Senator Win Gatchalian filed a bill that seeks to prohibit the use of mobile devices and electronic gadgets within school premises during school hours.
Under the Electronic Gadget-Free Schools Act (Senate Bill No. 2706), the Department of Education will be mandated to promulgate guidelines on the prohibition of mobile device and electronic gadget use within school premises during class hours.
Basas said that the Department of Education has rules regarding the use of gadgets in schools.
“Kailangan lang po talaga natin itong i-implement, i-review natin bakit hindi nagagawa,” he said.
