QC GOV’T SUSPENDS CLASSES TO GIVE WAY FOR MARCOS SONA

CLASSES in Quezon City are suspended on Monday when President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. delivers his very first State of the Nation Address.

No classes will be held in all levels, both in private and public schools, according to Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.

The President will make his first SONA at the Batasang Pambansa, amid expected protests on the streets leading to Congress on the same day.

“The city government will likewise suspend classes in all levels on Monday as a courtesy to President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, Jr., who will deliver his first State of the Nation Address,” Belmonte said in a statement.

“To avoid inconveniencing students who may find transportation difficult. Quezon City-based businesses are likewise highly encouraged to do the same, or adopt work-from-home arrangements, in order to ease mobility requirements and congestion,” she added.

The yearly SONA is usually held every last Monday of July where the Chief of State reports the current state of the country, unveils the administration’s agenda for the coming year, and asks Congress to pass priority legislative measures.
