SCHOOLS may be allowed to hold physical graduation ceremonies in campuses if pandemic restrictions will be eased further, an official of the Department of Education said.
Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan said that the DepEd recommended expanded in-person classes and school-based activities, like graduation ceremonies, to President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Kung tuloy-tuloy ito, hindi malayo na iyan maging posibilidad nga,” he said at the Laging Handa public briefing.
Schools under Alert Level 2 have started holding limited face-to-face classes.
Earlier, the DepEd said at least 304 public schools in areas under Alert Level 2 were ready to participate in the expansion phase of face-to-face classes.
DepEd Assistant Secretary Malcolm Garma said at least 6,347 public schools “underwent assessment and are deemed ready” to be included in the expansion phase of the limited face-to-face classes.
However, only around 304 public schools were ready to start limited face-to-face classes since these were in areas under Alert Level 2.
