PBBM VOWS TO RESTORE DEPED’S BUDGET CUT
PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has on Monday (16 Dec 2024) vowed to restore the P10-billion budget cut to the Department of Education.
PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has on Monday (16 Dec 2024) vowed to restore the P10-billion budget cut to the Department of Education.
“I think it is contrary to our policy direction when we talk about the STEM development of our educational sector and its continued growth,” Marcos said.
“The P10 billion cut came from the computerization item. We are working to restore it,” he added.
Earlier, DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara expressed concern over the reduction in the agency’s budget by the bicameral conference committee.
“Ten billion pesos was cut from the proposed 2025 computerization program of DepEd. That could have funded thousands of computers and gadgets for our public school children. Infrastructure is important, but so is investing in our people and human capital. The digital divide will only widen,” he previously stated.
