OVER 2,000 TEACHERS PROMOTED IN EASTERN VISAYAS

/ 16 April 2026

A TOTAL of 2,121 public school teachers and school heads in Eastern Visayas officially received their promotions on Wednesday.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. witnessed the mass oath-taking ceremony of the newly promoted educators, held at the Tacloban City Astrodome.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara administered the oath of office to the teachers and school heads. Their career advancements were made possible primarily through the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) System, with others benefiting from natural vacancies.

Angara emphasized that these promotions reflect the administration’s strong commitment to improving teacher welfare and supporting professional growth.

He added that the ECP addresses long-standing bottlenecks within the Department of Education, which previously left thousands of qualified teachers stuck in entry-level positions for decades.

This year, the Department of Education aims to grant 100,000 promotions nationwide under the ECP, allowing educators to advance through either classroom teaching or school administration tracks.
