NEW Department of Education Secretary Sonny Angara on Friday conducted a meeting with the agency’s Executive Committee on his first day in office as a top executive.

In a Facebook post, DepEd said that Angara discussed the policies and so with the opening of School Year 2024-2025 on July 29.

Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio on Thursday turned over her position as DepEd chief to Angara. She also handed over the seal and flag to Angara during the turnover ceremony.

On July 18, Angara also resigned as a senator in line with his appointment as the new DepEd chief.

He said that he will “do his best” to improve the quality of education which is in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ agenda adding that he will continue “what Duterte-Carpio has started.”

“Gagawin natin ang lahat para makamit ang mga pagbabago at reporma na naaayon sa mga layunin ng isang Bagong Pilipinas,” the former senator said.
