MEASURES ON CREATION OF SUCs CAMPUSES IN DIFFERENT AREAS GET SENATE NOD
THE SENATE Committee on Higher, Technical and Vocational Education approved seven proposals seeking the establishment of campuses in various areas in the country.
The panel headed by Senator Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero agreed to endorse for plenary deliberations measures seeking to establish regular campuses for several state and local universities and colleges.
The approved measures include Senate Bill 899 expanding and creating the regular campuses of the University of Antique; and Senate Bill 1220 or the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College in San Juan and Cabugao Campuses Act.
Meanwhile, the panel provisionally approved Senate Bill 1222 or the proposed Davao de Oro State College-Nabunturan Campus Act; and Senate Bill 1223 or proposed Bataan Peninsula State University-Bagac Campus Act; Senate Bill 1224 or the proposed Mindanao State University-Munai Campus; Senate Bill 1225 or the proposed Southern Leyte State University-Pintuyan Campus Act, and Senate Bill 916 or the Sarangani State College-Alabel campus.
Escudero said the measures are provisionally approved condition upon the submission of document evidencing the approval of the board and subject to the conditions of the board may have.
The senator also asked the universities or colleges to be compliant with the standard and policies of Commission on Higher Education.
