PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the Department of Education to study how teachers’ salaries can be increased.
PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the Department of Education to study how teachers’ salaries can be increased.
Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio said that the salary increase will be for teaching and non-teaching personnel.
“So, we are waiting for the result of that study na nandoon ‘yung increases and then nandoon din ‘yung pagkumpara niya sa inflation at sa mga economic indicators, forecast ng economic indicators sa mga darating na taon,” Duterte-Carpio said.
Teachers have long sought a salary increase to make their pay at par with other government workers.
Duterte said that teachers get salary increases through the Salary Standardization Law.
“Mayroon tayong increases sa Salary Standardization Law, in tranches ‘yun every year,” she said when asked if public school teachers will reap the campaign promise of Marcos to receive higher wages.
Marcos and Duterte-Carpio were present during the “Brigada Eskwela” activities of the DepEd at the Victorino Mapa High School on Monday.
