LAWMAKER SEEKS TO INTEGRATE NATIONAL BUILDING CODE IN ENGINEERING CURRICULUM
SENATOR Mark Villar filed a measure that will integrate the National Building Code of the Philippines in the curriculum of the degree programs in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Sanitary, Electronic Engineering and Architecture.
Senate Bill 1727 also seeks to include the National Building Code of the Philippines as a topic in the Licensure Examinations for the said professions.
The senator said that the proposed law aims to ensure that developers conform with the implementation of modern technical knowledge on construction, building design, occupancy, maintenance and use.
The bill aims to ensure that professionals engaged in the construction of buildings shall receive the necessary formal instruction and training to ensure the safety and integrity of structures.
Given the importance of the National Building Code, professionals in the construction industry are expected to be aware of the provisions of the said law.
