LAWMAKER SEEKS FREE POST GRADUATE EDUCATION FOR TEACHERS
KALINGA Partylist Rep. Irene Gay Saulog pushed the passage of a measure that will provide continuing education to public school teachers.
House Bill 3082 aims to grant scholarships to all public school teachers and allow them to pursue post graduate studies.
“This measure seeks to further improve the quality of education, particularly in public schools,” Saulog said in her explanatory note.
The bill specifically aims to enhance the capability of public school teachers.
“It is an investment in human capital that will pay huge dividends in a well-educated population,” Saulog said.
She added that improving the state of the public school system will benefit the poor who largely rely on the free public education provided by the State.
House Bill 3082 mandates the Department of Education and Commission on Higher Education to implement a scholarship program to enable public school teachers to pursue further studies.
The scholarship grant will cover the full cost of the tuition for a master’s degree or a doctorate degree.
