LAW GRADUATES WHO ARE NOT BAR EXAM PASSERS SHOULD BE DEPLOYED AS LEGAL CONSULTANTS FOR BARANGAYS

/ 22 March 2025

AKBAYAN Party-list First Nominee Chel Diokno is recommending the deployment of law graduates who have not passed the Bar exams as legal consultants for barangays.

Diokno also called for more training for Lupong Tagapamayapa members to enhance their ability to effectively mediate disputes and promote peaceful conflict resolution at the barangay level.

The legal consultants may also provide free legal guidance to residents on common concerns such as land disputes, domestic issues, and labor-related matters—giving them quick access to legal information without having to leave their barangay.

The initiative will also provide meaningful opportunities for law graduates who have not yet passed the Bar, enabling them to practice their legal skills and gain experience while serving their communities.

Diokno visited Bohol to meet with supporters and volunteers from various areas of the province and paid a courtesy call to Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap.
