HOUSE PANELS OK SUMMER YOUTH CAMP MEASURE
TWO committees at the House of Representatives have approved a measure institutionalizing the conduct of Summer Youth Camps in the barangay level.
The committees on Youth and Sports Development and Appropriations endorsed House Bill 9852, a substitute measure for House Bill 1815 or the proposed Summer Youth Camp Act.
HB1815 was originally authored by Rep. Rogelio Pacquiao.
Under the measure, a summer youth camp shall be conducted in every barangay in venues chosen by the Sangguniang Kabataan to inculcate a sense of social responsibility, ingrain patriotism and develop youth leadership and promote active participation in sports.
The SK will spearhead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the summer youth camps in their respective jurisdictions.
The budget for the Summer Youth Camp shall be included in the annual appropriations of the SK.
