SM FOUNDATION announced that the online application period for the SM College Scholarship program for School Year 2021-2022 will be from January 1 to February 28, 2021.

The foundation said that the scholarship program is open to Grade 12 students from public high schools. Students from private schools with Department of Education vouchers and who attended a public school in their junior high can also apply.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have a General Weighted Average of at least 88 percent or its equivalent for Grade 12 and a total household income of at most P150,000 per year.

The scholarship program will support students who will take up Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, and Electronics), Education (Elementary and Secondary); Accountancy, and Financial Management courses.

The program was set up by the late SM owner Henry Sy Sr.

Sy believed that if you send one child from a poor family to college, that child would have more opportunities to have gainful employment and later on uplift the economic status of his or her family.

SMFI started the scholarship program in 1993. It has supported almost 5,500 students nationwide.
