EU VOWS TO STRENGTHEN REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH SERVICES TO FILIPINO YOUTH

/ 1 October 2021

THE EUROPEAN Union Delegation to the Philippines vowed to strengthen the sexual and reproductive health information as well as affordable healthcare services to Filipino youth.

This was affirmed by EU Ambassador to the Philippines Luc Véron during his visit to the Community and Family Services International Center in Pasay City on Wednesday, September 29.

“For everybody to lead healthy lives we need easy access to accurate sexual and reproductive health information as well as quality education and affordable health care services. This is a priority for the EU worldwide and also in the Philippines,” Véron said.

CFSI is a Philippine-based international humanitarian group and a partner of EU in supporting the implementation of universal access to sexual reproductive health project across the country.

It aims to advance the sexual and reproductive health and rights of young people aged 10 to 24 in Pasay City and keep them away from the dangers of unplanned pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, and gender-based violence.

Véron stressed that working with youth, peer educators and community mobilizers is “a crucial way of reaching the youth.”

“The awareness session is a key opportunity for you to be better informed and to be real actors of change in your communities, in order to curb the increase of HIV/AIDS infection, in particular among youth in the Philippines,” he added.

CFSI Executive Director Steven Muncy reaffirmed the group’s continuing commitment to work with stakeholders and the youth in Pasay.

“CFSI has been working for and with the adolescents and youth in Pasay City for nearly two decades. We remain committed to providing support to adolescents and youth as well as their families, especially services that are not easily accessible in the time of the pandemic,” Muncy said.
