ENACTMENT OF SK EMPOWERMENT LAW LONG OVERDUE — SOLON
KABATAAN Party-list Representative Sarah Elago on Tuesday was elated over the signing of the Sangguniang Kabataan Empowerment Bill.
“Finally! Ganap nang batas ang SK Empowerment Bill! This Act provides honorarium for all SK officials including the SK Secretary and Treasurer as well as reforms for meaningful youth participation in upholding democracy and good governance. Pagpupugay sa mga kabataang lingkod-bayan sa pakikiisa! Maraming salamat po!” Elago said.
The youth lawmaker said that the new law will implement the long overdue reforms on SK Reform Act of 2015.
“This is a big step towards building the capacity of SKs to be truly independent in the performance of their duties,” Elago stated.
“Marami pang naiuulat na ginigipit ang pondo lalo na kapag hindi kapartido ang ibang nasa posisyon. Tumindig at suportahan ang isa’t isa tungo sa mabuting pamumuno,” she added.
Elago is one of the principal authors and the Technical Working Group Chair of the House of Representatives for House Bill 10698, and is the designated chair of the House panel for the Bicameral Conference Committee that consolidated House Bill 10698 with its Senate counterpart.
