DOST RECOGNIZES CAGAYAN STATE U WITH OUTSTANDING R&D CENTER AWARD
THE RESEARCH and development project of the Cagayan State University was awarded Outstanding R&D Center during the 2022 Department of Science and Technology Science for Change Program Summit.
Dubbed ‘NICER E-mobility R&D Center’, the project is located in CSU for Region II.
The project converts conventional tricycle to electric-powered ones which aims to encourage the use of electric vehicles.
It also aims to produce low-cost effective and energy efficient e-trike parts which will result in lesser carbon emission and lower fuel and maintenance cost.
“Aside from addressing air pollution, the center will create a new industry for e-trike in the region and will generate more jobs and income,” CSU said.
To push for the project, the Local Government of Tugegarao incentivized the program by handing out a P30,000 subsidy for willing drivers.
The award was accepted by CSU Research Director Julius Capili and DOST Regional Director Virginia Bilgera.
