DOST HOLDS STARBOOKS ORIENTATION
THE DEPARTMENT of Science and Technology – Science and Technology Information Institute, in cooperation with the Department of Education, conducted an orientation activity for information technology officers in La Union on the use of Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated Kiosk Stations.
Lloyd Frederick Mandapat, Science Research Specialist II of DOST-STII, presented the overview of STARBOOKS, emphasizing its purpose, which is to give free offline multiple access to all content of DOST-STII Library to geographically distant beneficiaries and students.
The task and scope of work for the DOST-I, DOST-STII, and DepEd were also discussed, focusing on system-related concerns, configuration of preloaded STARBOOKS content, and monitoring of STARBOOKS sites.
Meanwhile, Reynaldo Morales Jr., Administrative Assistant II of the DOST-STII, shared the standard content and impact of STARBOOKS on the students and beneficiaries.
Since STARBOOKS are preloaded with more content, DOST-STII made it user and child-friendly to simplify its content.
The DOST-STII assured DepEd of its technical assistance to ensure the effective usage of STARBOOKS.
