MORE than 640,000 teachers and non-teaching personnel will render poll service on Monday, May 9, the Department of Education said on Friday.

Education Undersecretary Alain Pascua said that 647,812 DepEd personnel will be deployed on election day.

Of these, 319,317 will serve as electoral boards; 200,627 as EB support staff; 38,989 as DepEd supervisor official; 87,162 as DESO support staff and 1,717 as board of canvassers.

“The total poll workers that will be mobilized and deputized by the Comelec is about 756,083 poll workers. And among that, the DepEd poll workers will account to about 90%—647,812,” Pascua said.

The DepEd earlier said that 39,217 public schools will be used as polling precincts.

The agency’s Election Task Force Operation and Monitoring Center will respond to concerns starting at 1 p.m. on May 8 until 5 p.m. on May 10.

Pascua said that the agency will use an election monitoring app available on Google Play and App Store.

He added that codes will be given to teachers and poll workers which they can use on the ride hailing app Grab so that they will be prioritized in booking rides.
