THE DEPARTMENT of Education on Thursday thanked Sen. Pia Cayetano for supporting the programs of the agency.

“The Department of Education is wholeheartedly grateful for the support and dedication of Senator Pia Cayetano to provide adequate funding for educational programs despite the pandemic,” the DepEd said in a Facebook post.

“We are with you in your mission to further strengthen education for the future of students,” it added.

Cayetano, vice chairman of the Senate Finance committee which handles the education budget, said that she carried her task just like a mother would — managing the limited finances of her household during a crisis.

“My priority was to push for sufficient funding to ensure quality learning for our children despite current limitations, and to make smart investments work for the future of education in the new normal and beyond,” she said.

“I thank Secretary Leonor Briones and the entire DepEd Philippines family for their perseverance and patience as well in meeting the challenges of the pandemic to serve the best interest of our learners and teachers,” the senator added.
