ANGARA SEES SALARY INCREASE FOR TEACHERS
SALARY increase for teachers may be possible under the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., incoming Department of Education Secretary Sen. Sonny Angara said Thursday.
When asked if a salary increase for teachers may be implemented, Angara said he’s “confident” that it may happen in the next few years.
“I am confident in the next few years, hindi ko lang alam kung this year or next year ay magkakaroon ‘yan ng pagtaas ng suweldo ng ating mga teachers,” he said.
Salary increase is among the demands of the teachers to be implemented under the new leadership of Angara, according to teachers’ groups.
However, the senator said that it would not be easy to implement as there are over a million teachers nationwide.
He also added that they will fix and improve the benefits of the teachers and their access to loans.
