EDUCATION Secretary Sonny Angara congratulated the Philippines’ representatives at the 65th International Math Olympiad (IMO), who won several medals.

Angara extended his congratulations during a courtesy call with the students, who Hazel Joy Shi and Kerish Villegas led.

The Education Secretary also expressed gratitude to the Philippine delegation. The IMO occurred in Bath, United Kingdom, from July 11 to 22.

The Philippine team includes:

• Ervin Joshua Bautista (Honourable Mention Awardee, Southville International School and Colleges)
• Luke Sebastian Sy (Bronze Medalist, Grace Christian College)
• Jerome Austin Te (Silver Medalist, Jubilee Christian Academy)
• Alvann Walter Paredes Dy (Bronze Medalist, Saint Jude Catholic School)
• Mohammad Nur Casib (Honourable Mention Awardee, Philippine Science High School – Central Mindanao Campus)
• Filbert Ephraim Wu (Bronze Medalist, Victory Christian International School)

According to its website, the IMO is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for high school students, held annually in a different country.
