ADMU PROF APPOINTED AS SC ASSOCIATE JUSTICE
PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte appointed Court of Appeals Justice and Ateneo De Manila University Professor Maria Filomena Dumandan Singh as associate justice of the Supreme Court.
Singh, also an Ateneo alumna, took the post vacated by Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe.
“We extend our most sincere congratulations to Justice Monette (Singh) and wish her all the best as she carries out her responsibilities in the judiciary with faithfulness to the Ateneo standards and values as to which we all strive to remain constantly true,” ADMU said.
Prior to her appointment to the Supreme Court, Singh served as a presiding judge of Branch 31 of the Metropolitan Trial Court of Quezon City. She was later promoted to executive judge.
In June 2007, she became the presiding judge of Branch 85 of the Regional Trial Court of Quezon City.
She was appointed as CA justice on March 14, 2014.
Singh finished her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English major in Imaginative Writing from the University of the Philippines where she graduated cum laude.
She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law with Second Honors distinction.
She also earned a Master of Laws in International Legal Studies at the American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C..
