AT LEAST 169 schools in nine regions were damaged by Super Typhoon Egay and the rain from the southwest monsoon, the Department of Education said on Monday.

DepEd said that the total estimated cost for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the damaged schools is P810 million.
The damaged schools were in the National Capital Region, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas.
The DepEd said 68 schools in CAR, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and Western Visayas were being used as evacuation centers.
Typhoon Egay left at least 25 people dead and 20 missing. Damage to infrastructure and agriculture was pegged at P3.5 billion.
