PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte avoided clashing with his daughter when he opted to run for senator instead.
Duterte will run under the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan.
He substituted for Mona Liza Visorde.
The president was represented by his lawyer Melchor Aranas at the Commission on Elections in Manila.
Duterte initially said that he will run for vice president in tandem with Sen. Christopher Lawrence Go who filed his COC last week.
Had he pursued that path, he would have been on a collision course with his daughter Sara.
