THE XAVIER University-Ateneo de Cagayan School of Education has successfully retained its designation as a Center of Excellence (COE) for Teacher Education.

The Department of Education’s Teacher Education Council Secretariat granted the extension under Republic Act No. 11713, also known as the Excellence in Teacher Education Act. This law empowers the council to designate both public and private Teacher Education Institutions as Centers of Excellence.

As a COE, Xavier University plays a vital role in supporting the council by providing technical expertise for revising the pre-service teacher education curriculum, developing recognition and performance systems for COEs, and addressing priority projects.

The university joins 33 other higher education institutions nationwide that received COE extensions for Teacher Education. These institutions are tasked with advancing teacher education through curriculum enhancements and strategic initiatives over the next year.
