USTP LAUDS ANGARA, VILLANUEVA FOR BUDGETARY SUPPORT

/ 9 January 2021

THE UNIVERSITY of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines lauded Senators Joel Villanueva and Sonny Angara for helping increase the school’s budget.

The university said that the two senators inserted P1 million and P15 million, respectively, in the national budget for the upgrade of equipment and facilities in its Cagayan de Oro, Jasaan, and Claveria campuses.

Villanueva, who heads the Senate Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education, inserted an additional budget for ICT connection and equipment and for the conduct of sports and culture development programs.

Angara on the other hand inserted a budget for the construction of university residences and to add a bachelor’s degree for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in USTP.

“USTP would like to acknowledge the efforts of Senator Villanueva and Senator Angara that resulted in the inclusion of funds to support projects of the University in the fulfillment of its mandate,” the school said on Facebook.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed on December 28, 2020 the 2021 General Appropriations Act with a budget of P4.506 trillion.
