USC LAW MOOTING TEAM DOMINATES NATIONAL JESSUP ROUNDS
THE University of San Carlos College of Law Mooting Team won major awards at the National Rounds of the 2025 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, recently held at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.
Out of 28 competing law schools, the USC team—composed of Bri Unabia, Yovellie Delubio, Mel Joseph Castro, Jose Patrick Edward Espinosa, and Khylle Zed Mag-aso—secured all three major memorial awards: Overall Best Memorial, Best Applicant Memorial, and Best Respondent Memorial.
The team also dominated the preliminary rounds, finishing with an undefeated 4-0 record and securing the top rank going into the next stages of the competition.
In addition to the team’s success, Bri Unabia was named the Overall Best Oralist, surpassing competitors from various law schools across the Philippines. Delubio ranked 3rd, while Castro secured 10th place in the individual rankings.
Before this victory, the USC Law Mooting Team won the Best Memorial Award at the Southeast Asian Rounds of the 29th Stetson Annual International Environmental Moot Court Competition in January at UP Diliman.
USC Law has consistently excelled in the Jessup Mooting Competition, often referred to as the “Olympics of Mooting.” The team reached the Global Rounds semifinals in 2021 and won the Best Respondent Team in the World award in 2023.
Following this triumph, the USC Law team will now compete against top law schools worldwide in the Jessup Global Rounds, set to take place in Washington D.C. from March 29 to April 5, 2025.
