A PROFESSOR from the University of the Philippines-Los Baños was appointed as new director and designated associate professor at the Nagoya University Asian Satellite Campus-Philippines.

Dr. Mary Jean Garsuta-Bulatao assumed her new post on January 1, 2024.

She took over from Dr. Editha Cedicol who has served as designated professor at the NUASC-PH since its inception and launching in 2015.

“Under the umbrella of the Tokai Higher Education and Research System, Dr. Bulatao will manage the operations of the NUASC-PH and monitor the study programs of the doctoral students under the NU Transnational Doctoral Programs for Leading Professionals in Asian Countries,” UPLB said.

“She will also work as a local adviser of the Asian Satellite Campuses Institute students in the field of animal science at the NU Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences as needed,” it added.

Dr. Bulatao, a retired faculty member from UPLB’s College of Agriculture and Food Science, earned her PhD in Animal Science in 2003 under the Joint Japan-World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program.

She received prestigious fellowships, including the Fulbright Visiting Researcher at Texas A&M, USA, in 2006-2007, and was honored with the Outstanding Professional in Animal Science Award-Extension in 2015 and the One UP Faculty Award twice, in 2016-2019 and 2019-2021, respectively.

Before her stint at NUASC-PH, she worked as an associate professor of Agricultural Systems Institute at College of Agriculture and Food Science in UPLB.
