Perpetual came out strong to avenge their first loss against Lyceum and climbed to a 1-1 record at the expense of Letran who previously lost to Jose Rizal University (JRU).

With a short-lived rally, Charmaine Ocado closed out the first frame with a solid open attack, 26-24.

The Lady Altas continued to dominate while taking advantage of the shaky uncoordinated floor defense of Letran and took a 19-15 lead until Mary Dapol ended the second frame with a down-the-line attack, 25-18.

The Lady Knights rallied back in the third and last frame and even took the lead early with a 6-2 advantage, but the Perpetual refused to give up and capped a 5-0 run, stretching their chance with a 16-14 cushion after a swing from Dapol-Ocado combination.

Perpetual’s attacking playmaker Jenny Gaviola went on for two consecutive points after her attack for the match point and followed by her service ace to seal the deal, 25-19.

Dapol paced Perpetual with 15 points and 12 digs, Ocado added 12 markers while Gaviola and Razel Aldea chipped in six points each.

Julienne Castro and Chamberlaine Cunada paced Letran with eight and seven points, respectively, while Lara Silva had nine excellent digs and 15 excellent receptions.

Perpetual will try to make it two wins in a row when it plays EAC on Tuesday, while Letran will try to win its first game against College of Saint Benilde on Sunday.
