UP VISAYAS’ BS FISHERIES PROGRAM GETS ASEAN AUN-QA ACCREDITATION
THE BS Fisheries program of the University of the Philippines-Visayas has been accredited by the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations University Network-Quality Assurance.
It is the first degree program of the university that received the ASEAN AUN-QA.
“College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences received the final result of the AUN-QA accreditation of the BSF program on January 12, 2023,” the university said.
“The report stated that the BSF has fulfilled the requirements of the AUN-QA criterion and has successfully passed the online assessment rated at the program level,” it added.
The accreditation placed the program at par with those in other universities in ASEAN.
UPV said the BSF was assessed by Professor Dr. Herman Parung of the Department of Civil Engineering of Universitas Hasanuddin, Indonesia and Associate Prof. Dr. Pakorn Watanachaturaporn of the Department of Computer Engineering of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang in Thailand.
The assessment focused on eight criteria:
• expected learning outcomes;
• program specification;
• program structure and content;
• teaching and learning approach;
• student assessment;
• academic staff quality;
• support staff quality;
• student quality and support;
• facilities and infrastructure;
• quality enhancement;
• and output.
AUN-QA acts as the focal point for coordinating activities to harmonize educational standards and seeking continuous improvement of academic quality of universities in ASEAN.
