THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines' University Council is having talks to suspend the school's Admission Test for Academic Year 2023-2024.
THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines’ University Council is having talks to suspend the school’s Admission Test for Academic Year 2023-2024.
The move came about after the Office of Admissions proposed the suspension of the exams for prospective students.
Admissions director Francisco de Los Reyes said UP will face logistical issues as it only has 1,600 personnel who will administer the test across the country.
This is in comparison to more than 100,000 applicants the university is expecting to have for the particular academic year.
UP’s constituent units in Baguio, Cebu, Diliman, Los Baños, Manila, Mindanao, Open University, and the Visayas are deliberating on the matter.
An announcement regarding the status of the exam will be released by the university after a conclusion is made.
The UP Council is made up of chancellors, professors, associate professors, and assistant professors of UP constituent units.
The university suspended the conduct of the exams since the onset of the pandemic, noting health concerns.
